  • Jo Reid Technical Director & 07 & 08 Girls Coach

    Jo Moved to Alaska in Jr. High where she attended Wendler Middle school and started playing for AYSC. She played at East High School where they won a State Title 3 of her 4 years before she went onto to play at Creighton University. She was a scholarship recipient and played for 4 years before returning to Alaska to start her coaching career.

    Jo has coached at the Club level, high school level, and ODP for over 20 years. She received the AYS Competitive Girls Coach of the year in 2010 and currently holds a USSF C Coaching License and NSCAA National Diploma.

  • Will Lucero 03 & 01/02 Boys Coach

    Will was born in Mexico City, Mexico and was raised in Anchorage, Alaska. Growing up he competed in Karate and participated in Football. Soccer has always been a part of his culture and there was never a family function that didn’t end in a friendly game of “Futbol”. Will has coached a variety of sports over that last 11 years which includes baseball, football, recreational and competitive soccer. Will has had the honors to take soccer teams to regional tournaments in Hawaii and California. Soccer is a game of opportunities and preparing your mindset both for the physical and mental aspects of the game is his passion to coach players so that they can perform to the best of their ability. Will holds his USSF D License and recieved the Futsal Coach of the Year from AYS.

  • Felipe Abreu 04 & 07 Boys Coach
    Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Felipe has played soccer since his first days of kindergarten. At the age of ten he started playing at EC Pinheiros club first as a rec player, then as a competitive player. As a young player, he was invited to try out for São Paulo FC professional team youth program. He traveled for many national and international tournaments in Chile, Finland, Denmark and Sweden where he played in the Gothia Cup, the world's largest youth tournament. In college, he played one seasonfor his university, FMU.
    Felipe's coaching experience began in high school and has taken off since moving to Alaska in 2011 and starting to coach with AYSC. He was elected coach of the year by Alaska Youth Soccer Association in 2017. He is very passionate about soccer and loves having the opportunity to share it with club, high school, and ODP players. He holds a USSF D License.

  • John Warren 04/05 Girls Coach
    John has coached at the club level for over 15 years in Virginia, Nebraska and Alaska. He was also a staff coach and Camp Director for both No. 1 Striker and No. 1 Goalkeeper Camps at sites nationwide for 8 years. John also worked as an asst. Womens Coach at Virginia Commonwealth University(D-1). He also coached as the mens co-head coach - Nebraska Wesleyan University(D-3/NAIA). John holds a B.S. Exercise Science and B.S. Political Science - University of Nebraska and worked as an Athletic Trainer with D.C. United, U.S. Womens National Team(World Cup) 1999, U.S. Mens National Team, Univ. of Nebraska, George Washington Univ., Washington Capitals(NHL), Green Bay Packers(NFL). 
    John holds NSCAA National, Advanced National Diplomas and a USSF B license.

  • Ashli Meek 04/05 Girls Coach

    Ashli grew up in Anchorage, Alaska doing competitive gymnastics and playing club soccer and high school soccer at Dimond High school. She was a member of the Alaska ODP Program and attended regional camp in high school. She has coached kids of all ages in both recreational and competitive environments for over 10 years.She now works as a nursh in Anchorage and holds a USSF  D license.

  • April Alvarez-Lopez Coach
    April was born in El Paso Texas and at 8 years old moved to Soldotna Alaska. While in Soldotna April joined the local soccer teams in 4th grade, she continued to play until middle school.  In 2005 April moved back to El Paso Texas, when in El Paso April played rec soccer in high school, but focused on competitive swimming. It was not until after high school when April realized she enjoyed playing but wanted to help others succeed in their passion of the sport. April attended the University of Texas at El Paso and graduated in May 2015 with a bachelor in Multidisciplinary Studies with a minor in Education. April knew working in a school she would be able to still be around sports, especially soccer, and teach others skills she wish she learned growing up. In the summer of 2016 April moved back to Alaska and resided in Anchorage. April played continuously on rec teams and continues to do so with Soccer Alaska Adult League. In 2017 April was employed at Lumen Christi High School as a teacher. April than began to assist coach the Junior High Soccer team in the summer of 2017. In the Spring of 2018 April became the head coach of the Junior High Soccer Team. On her free time she enjoys running 5k's with her family, and traveling to watch sporting events especially the Seattle Sounders and Women's USA soccer team.

  • Manny Hernandez Coach

    Manuel (Manny) Sostenes Hernandez has been involved with soccer for over 30 years. Growing up in the Anchorage, AK,  Manny has 16 years of youth coaching experience from Boys Girls Club to competitive club soccer.  He also served as the president for Northern Lights Soccer Club (Futbol Alaska) in Anchorage, Alaska for four years.  He has coached successful boys & girls’ teams in age groups from U6 through U17.  As a coach, Manny, has won two competitive youth Alaska State Cup tournaments for two different U12/U14 boys teams and participated in Regional tournaments as well as numerous local tournament championships. Manny’s main focus is on developing the player to the best of their abilities on and off the pitch in a positive environment of total exhilaration. Manny believes combining fun and training is an art and is a must.


    Manny holds a USSF National D license and a NSCAA State and Regional Goal Keeping License.
